Bamboo 'Born to Explore' Collection: A Kids Who Explore x Sonny Days Collaboration

There’s something extra special about a collaboration that grows organically from within our own community.

Introducing Born to Explore, our new bamboo collection created for babies, kids and families who believe some of the very best childhood memories happen outside. We’re so excited to introduce the Born to Explore Collection, a collaboration between Kids Who Explore and Sonny Days, created for the littlest explorers and the families raising them outside.

This collection brings together two female-founded brands with a shared belief that childhood is better with more time outdoors. It was created for camping mornings, cozy nights in the tent, first adventures with a newborn, weekends in the mountains and all those everyday moments that make up an outdoor childhood.

And the story of how it came together feels very Kids Who Explore.

A Collaboration Born From Community

We first connected with Sonny Days through our own Kids Who Explore community.

Liz Christensen, one of the incredible leaders supporting our Explorer Host Program, connected with the founder of Sonny Days and quickly fell in love with what she was creating.

Our Explorer Host Program is built around a simple idea: parents helping other parents get outside. Our volunteer hosts create opportunities for families to meet, explore and build outdoor community together. So there was something pretty fitting about one of those relationships eventually connecting two female-founded businesses.

An introduction was made, conversations started, and it quickly became clear how much our brands had in common.

We both believe in raising kids with a connection to nature. We believe in creating products that work for real family life. And we believe that getting outside with kids doesn’t have to be complicated.

From there, Born to Explore started taking shape.

Why Bamboo for Little Explorers?

What our kids wear outside matters, especially when they’re little.

One thing we talk about often at Kids Who Explore is being thoughtful about cotton for outdoor adventures. Cotton absorbs and holds onto moisture, which can become uncomfortable and potentially leave kids feeling colder as temperatures change. Our Bamboo 'Born to Explore' line solves that issue.

That’s one of the reasons we were excited to build this collection around bamboo fabric.

Soft, comfortable and moisture-wicking, these are pieces designed to move between life at home and life outside. They can become cozy layers for camping, pajamas at the end of a backpacking day, something comfortable for the drive to the trailhead or simply everyday explorer wear.

Because outdoor kids still need cozy.

Meet the Bamboo Born to Explore Collection

The collection includes pieces for explorers right from the newborn days and into the little-kid years.

There are cozy newborn sleepers for those first adventures together, an adorable Explorer Romper, and matching pajama sets so siblings and little explorers can bring a bit of the adventure home with them too.

Each piece carries the spirit of Kids Who Explore through a playful explorer print featuring the things that have become part of our world: hiking boots, compasses, trees and, of course, the Kids Who Explore bear.

They’re made for mornings waking up in the tent and being comfy and cozy.

For changing into something cozy after a day on the trail.

For backpacking trips, campground weekends and cabin mornings.

And sometimes, just for proudly wearing your explorer swag around the house.

From One Motherhood Season to Another

There’s another layer to this launch that makes it especially meaningful.

Kids Who Explore was born from motherhood and from the realization that adventure didn’t have to end when I became a mom.

What started as a desire to connect with other outdoor families has grown into a global community helping parents find each other, learn together and create opportunities for their kids to spend more time outside.

And now, as I enter another newborn season myself, we’re launching a collection that starts right there.

With the tiniest explorers.

There’s something pretty full-circle about that.

The newborn stage can feel like the beginning of an entirely new world, but it doesn’t have to mean stepping away from the one you loved before. Sometimes it simply means learning how to bring your baby along in a new way.

That has always been at the heart of Kids Who Explore.

Our Bamboo Born to Explore Collection is More Than Matching Pajamas

This collaboration is about really cute bamboo pieces, yes.

But it also represents something much bigger to us.

It represents female founders supporting one another. Moms connecting moms. Community relationships turning into something tangible. And businesses coming together around a shared goal of helping raise kids who feel at home outside.

Most importantly, when you shop the Kids Who Explore x Sonny Days Born to Explore Collection, you’re also supporting the work behind Kids Who Explore and our mission to help more families get outside.

Every first purchase helps support our initiatives to connect families with outdoor community, resources and opportunities to get on the trail together.

So whether these pieces are coming along on baby's first camping trip, being packed into a backpack for a weekend adventure, wrapped up under the tree for your favourite little explorer or simply being worn for a cozy morning at home, we hope they become part of some pretty special memories.

Because they were made for little ones who are Born to Explore.
